What is Lunaception?
Lunaception is the concept of using light to regulate your menstrual cycle, this idea was first formerly put forth in the 70’s book by Louise Lacey ‘Lunaception’. This practice takes a cue from the moon using the manipulation of light to increase fertility, regulate menstrual cycles, and prompt a return to your innate circadian rhythms.
She found that sleeping in complete darkness except for three nights each cycle (when she slept with a 40-watt bulb under a lampshade or with a 75- watt bulb beaming a shaft of light from a nearby bathroom (essentially mimicking full-moon light) triggered ovulation.
PMS and painful periods, although statistically normal, are not physiologically normal. The menstrual cycle is a fundamentally natural process.. it’s not meant to be painful.
Pain is a call for attention. Think about it - in any other situation where we experience pain, we stop and listen. We change what we’re doing and address it. If we burn ourselves on the stove, the pain we feel signals us to back off. It signals us to make changes to prevent further harm. So why do we treat the pain that can accompany our periods any differently?
We’re told this story that PMS and painful periods are part of the deal as women - that they are a consequence of being female. But babes, this is far from the truth. Our bodies do not have to be a burden. And our cycles do not have to be a liability.

Psychologist Dr. Sarah McClelland coined the term ‘intimate justice’ - the idea that sex has both political and personal implications. It questions how social conditions, like racial and gender-based stereotypes, impact what individuals feel they deserve in their intimate lives.
In her work she found that young women were more likely to use their partner’s pleasure as a measure of their own satisfaction. Young men, however, were more likely to measure their satisfaction by their own orgasm.

For women, sex is internal. It's something that takes place within our bodies- both literally and energetically. Whatever a man is presently going through- his current state/his consciousness (positive or negative)- the woman he enters will absorb it on some level.
Every month, women’s blood makes big $$ for big businesses like Tampax, Always, Playtex, P&G, Kotex and O.B. These companies thrive off our menstruation and do so with zero concern for our health. Their products contain chlorine bleach, dioxin, rayon, dyes and synthetics- AKA toxic shit and cancer causing agents. This is especially concerning when you know that a woman’s vagina is the single most absorbent portion of her body… Not to mention these companies perpetuate a culture of shame around menstruation and the need for their ‘sanitary’ products to serve as feminine ‘protection’ against our own bodies.
